Monastery Kom
The monastery Kom with the church of St. Falling into sleep of Holy Mother of God is located on the small island of Odrinska gora, close to Žabljak Crnojevića, where the Crnojević River flows into the western section of Lake Skadar. The monastery was built between 1415 and 1427 and it is the legacy of Duradj and Ljes Crnojević. In this monastery Petar II Petrović Njegoš, the greatest Montenegrin ruler and poet, became a priest. The oldest frescoes in the monastery Kom are from the second half of the 15th century.

Village Karuč
Karuč is a small fisherman’s place situated on the banks of Skadar lake. The place is very popular during summer and visited by people who want to explore the lake and enjoy in the pure nature. Even Petar I Petrović Njegoš, the greatest Montenegrin ruler and poet, had his winter home built here, because of the mild climate in the village. Like any other village on the Skadar lake, Karuč is small, but enormous in terms of historical importance and natural beauty.
Tour plan: As any other tours, we start this cruise from Virpazar. Cruising begins through a beautiful channel surrounded by various plants and birds, after which we come to a bigger part of the lake. By boat we pass under the bridge which is part of the main road Podgorica – Bar. On the way to Karuč, a beautiful panorama on the village will make you wish to explore the village as soon as possible.

History Tour 6
Prison Island Grmozur
Grmožur is the closest island to Virpazar. The fortification on this island was built by the Turks in 1843 and it was used as defensive complex. This little rocky island was known as prison for political opponents. Only one person escaped from the island and then Grmožur got one more name – ‘Montenegrin Alcatraz’. Furthermore, it was known as the “Snake Island”, but today ornithologists call it “Bird Island”.
Tour plan: This tour starts in Virpazar, from where we will cruise through small and narrow canal that leads us to open lake. On the way to Grmožur, you will enjoy watching the birds and water lilies. After cruising around the island, there will be time for swimming.

History Tour 7
Island and fort Lesendro
Lesendro is an island and fortress on Skadar lake, located near the village Vranjina. The fortress was built in the 18th century. It is located on the peninsula that was an island until the construction of the Belgrade – Bar railway line. During the reign of Bishop Peter II Petrović-Njegoš, it served as a defense against Turkish attacks. Unfortunately the Montenegrins weren’t successful and the Turks conquered the area and the island became known as Njegos’ sorrow. The fortes of Lesendro is an example of the long lasting struggle of the Montenegrin people for independence.
Tour plan: Departure is from Virpazar. Cruising begins through a beautiful little channel surrounded by various plants and birds, after which we come to a bigger part of the lake. By boat we pass under the bridge which is part of the main road Podgorica – Bar. Lesendro is located just behind the bridge. Short break for swimming is also included.

River of Crnojevica
Rijeka Crnojevica, meaning the “River of Crnojević”, is a village in Montenegro on the eponymous Crnojevica river near the coast Skadar lake. This place in the history was a very significant factor for Montenegrin cultural and historical heritage. The first Cyrillic book amongst the South Slavic nations was printed here. During the 19th and 20th century, Rijeka Crnojevica was the biggest port and leading trade centre in Montenegro. Symbol of this village is old bridge.
Tour plan: As other tours, it starts from Virpazar, continuing through small beautiful canal that leads us to open lake. Beautiful and big river channel, rare birds, water lily and reeds are on the way to village. Swimming in clean water is on the list and should not be missed. There will be also a time for walk in the village.
